Michael Herold

Monumental Sculpture Fabricated at Scale.

Form, structure, and presence for large-scale environments and landmark settings.

Designed to shape space, command attention, and define place.

Built for legacy.

Beyond the sculptures featured on the homepage, this section showcases additional styles, series, and approaches developed in the studio.

The goal is simple: to demonstrate the range of design possibilities available for future commissions and site-specific projects.

Studio Works

Works developed in the studio, exploring form, structure, and presence across a range of scales.

Turquoise metal sculpture composed of circular discs and slender supports arranged vertically, creating a balanced, airy structure with a sense of movement. By Michael Herold.

Edge of Balance

A vertical arrangement of circular elements and slender supports creates a light, rhythmic structure that feels both balanced and in motion. The offset discs introduce subtle asymmetry, giving the piece a sense of suspension and flow.

Red metal sculpture composed of stacked, angled rectangular forms rising vertically on a base, creating a dynamic, figure-like structure. By Michael Herold.

The Librarian

A vertical sequence of tilted rectangular forms stacks upward in a precarious, balanced rhythm. The shifting angles create a sense of motion and tension, suggesting a figure caught between order and instability.

Blue metal sculpture composed of stacked curved cylindrical sections arranged vertically on a rectangular base.

The Pose

Curved cylindrical sections are arranged in a vertical progression, creating a rhythmic, stacked composition. The repetition of form emphasizes structure and balance within a clean, industrial language.

Red metal sculpture composed of curved cylindrical segments arranged in a tilted vertical structure on a three-part base.

On Tilt

Curved cylindrical sections are arranged in a shifting vertical composition, introducing a sense of imbalance and motion. The structure appears to tilt and rotate as it rises, contrasting stability with dynamic movement.

Curved copper-toned tubular sculpture rising in an S-shape, anchored to a circular base with a ring element and small sphere, featuring chain details along the structure. Michael Herold.

Charmer

A sweeping tubular form rises in a controlled, rhythmic curve, anchored by a circular base and intersecting ring. Subtle chain details and a suspended sphere introduce tension and balance within an otherwise fluid structure.

Vertical metal sculpture featuring two circular rings stacked along a central axis with textured connectors, topped by a curved element and small sphere on a base. By Michael Herold.

The Sentry

A vertical composition of stacked rings and textured forms establishes a clear axis, rising toward a crowned top element. The interplay of open circles and solid mass creates a measured balance between weight and space.

Form and Structure

Works focused on balance, proportion, and structural clarity across a range of scales.

Metal sculpture from the Cone Series featuring a conical base, central sphere, and multiple upward curving elements ending in circular and oval forms.

Cone Series No. 9

A conical base supports a central sphere from which multiple curved elements extend upward, each terminating in distinct forms. The composition introduces branching movement and layered balance within a controlled geometric framework.

Metal sculpture from the Cone Series featuring a conical base, a spherical element, and a crescent-shaped form balanced vertically in a polished finish.

Cone Series No. 3

A polished conical base supports a spherical element and a crescent form, creating a precise vertical composition of balanced geometry. The contrast between smooth curvature and textured surface detail introduces subtle variation within a controlled, minimal structure.

Gold metal sculpture composed of connected rectangular segments forming a curved, leaning structure on a circular base.

Sidewinder

A sequence of connected rectangular forms arcs upward in a controlled, shifting curve. The segmented structure introduces rhythm and tension, giving the piece a sense of motion and directional flow.

Blue metal sculpture with a vertical base and two upward angled arms ending in triangular shapes, with circular elements below a central disc. By Michael Herold.

Curious

A vertical form rises from a central base, extending into two upward-reaching elements that suggest alertness and response. The combination of circular and linear components creates a playful yet structured composition with a strong sense of gesture.

Black metal sculpture composed of stacked threaded rods, plates, and a central sphere, topped with a curved horizontal element, forming a symmetrical vertical structure. By Michael Herold.

The Keeper

A vertically stacked assembly of threaded columns, plates, and a central sphere builds upward in measured increments. The curved top element introduces a subtle shift in balance, giving the structure a poised, almost ceremonial presence.

Metal sculpture featuring a vertical arrangement of staggered rectangular elements rising upward along a central rod, topped with a sphere on a circular base. By Michael Herold.

Assent

A vertical structure of staggered rectangular elements builds upward in a stepped progression, culminating in a spherical form. The composition emphasizes ascent and direction, with repetition creating rhythm and visual momentum.

Commission

Create a landmark.

Site-specific sculpture developed for developers, architects, corporations, institutions, and collectors seeking work designed to shape identity, command attention, and create lasting presence within the built environment.

From focused installations to monumental works integrated with architecture and landscape, each project is developed in response to scale, environment, and long-term impact.
